"Chie, how did you buy that skewer?"
"With your wallet!"
Marie lying down on (what I presume) a bed, hatless, with messy hair saying “Let’s try hard tommorow, too”.
This is all innocent, I swear.
On a different note, I feel it may have been better to clearly label P4GA as an expansion and release it straight to DVD, since this is what’s causing people now to have betrayed expectations, since this being a TV Anime led them to believe it was a remake, rather than a, well, expansion.
I also think the strict dedication to getting Marie’s Social Link done in a clear string of events is a problem, since, while it does help expanding on her character’s relationships with the IT (which was direly needed), it also makes the flow of the Anime feel stiffled and unnatural when watched as it’s own show, rather than intercepted with the original’s episodes (which I am more more and more getting convinced that this is how these episodes are *supposed* to be watched, making the choice of airing it on TV as it’sown series even more baffling.) Intercepting the Marie episodes with some Adachi stuff here and there would really be helpful for the flow and contrast.
Generally, I think this “series” (which it really isn’t; it’s expansion episodes) should not have been aired on it’s own, but mixed in with a run of the old series. I know that this is pretty much impossible, given that this means they would have needed to rent out a programming slot for three whole Anime seasons straight, but it would definitely have helped people’s complaints about this “series” a lot.
Then again, as far as I can tell, the Japanese Fandom is enjoying this, and the Persona Franchise is primarily made for a Japanese Audience, so maybe I shouldn’t worry about the English Fandom so much. I am still enjoying these episodes a lot, I just think I’d enjoy them more if I figured out their placement between the previous Anime’s episodes and watched them there.
A straight to DVD anime (like an OVA) probably woudn’t sell as much as airing it on TV. Plus, it’s on a timeslot that only the more dedicated fans will watch anyway. They did air The Animation before P4GA aired. It ran as a marathon a few days before premiere.
If I was in an Alternate Dimension where P4GA was a full remake, then I’d see even bigger complaints. It’s obviously meant to be viewed as an episodic series (Where most development is self-contained within the episodes) rather than serialized (Builds up from one part to another) like regular P4.
Maybe people want to see the Adachi stuff because they don’t like the Marie stuff. Also, in the opening you can see Yu’s stats, it’s maxed. So this is a NG+, not really going to fit in with the Poker faced Yu during The Animation. The Shadows and Other parts did happen but not every detail you saw before will be exact.
